Standard Features
-
Precision Electronic Controls
Enclosed in a protective, sealed enclosure, all electronic components are isolated from aggressive atmospheres, ensuring continued performance and maximum reliability.
Automatic Voltage Stabilization (AVS)
Maintains the output voltage constant to within ±0.5% of rated voltage from 0-100% of the rated output voltage.
Automatic Constant Current (ACC)
Maintains the output current constant to within ±0.5% of rated current from 0-100% of the rated output current.
Current Limiting (CL)
Prevents the output current from exceeding a factory preset limit.
Voltage Limiting (VL)
Prevents the output voltage from exceeding a factory preset limit.
Automatic Crossover
When operating in the voltage stabilization mode, transfer will occur to the constant current mode when the output current reaches the preset current limit. Conversely, when operating in the constant current mode, transfer will occur to the voltage stabilization mode when the voltage reaches the preset limit.
Peak Current Overload Detector (PCOD)
The PCOD continuously monitors the DC output for short circuit conditions. In the unlikely event of a short circuit, the PCOD reduces the output to a safe level, protecting the power supply from potentially harmful overload conditions.
SCR Watchdog
A Rapid exclusive, the SCR Watchdog continuously monitors each SCR. In the unlikely event an SCR fails, the remaining SCRs are phased back and AC rectifier power is removed, thus guarding against multiple or cascading SCR failures.
(Standard on units 2,500 amperes and above)
Soft Start
Increases the output at a preset rate to protect SCRs from in-rush currents.
Remote Control
Remote control consoles feature start/stop push buttons, power-on light, analog voltmeter and ammeter, and output voltage and current controls.
(Standard on three-phase, optional on single-phase)
Enclosures
Enclosures up to 72" H are available in either powder-coated steel or PVC at no additional cost. Optional Type 316L stainless steel enclosures are available.

Available Options
-
Isolated Computer Interface
The analog computer interface option provides an isolated (4-20 ma, 0-1, 5 or 10V) communication signal capability between a power supply and a computer, or PLC, to control and monitor the output current and/or voltage of the unit.
Automatic Current Density (ACD)
The DC output is varied in direct proportion to the load, maintaining an average current density over varying load sizes.
Reduced Ripple
For applications requiring lower ripple, Rapid offers power supplies with output ripple as low as 1% of the operating setpoint.
