Marine Frequency Converters
Rapid Power... A World Leader in Frequency Converters, offers a Total Power Conversion System to the marine industry.
Rapid Power Technologies has produced thousands of
frequency/power conversion systems in sizes from 7.5 kVA to 300 kVA. These installations are onboard and alongside, serving marine vessels and aircraft worldwide.
Rapid’s Total Power Conversion System (TPCS) is a digitally controlled power system that uses the latest power electronic methods to simplify the dockside power hook-up. The TPCS is a user-friendly system that has a very clean output waveform to the vessel, plus the TPCS produces very low harmonic distortion back into the marina power provider.
The heart of the TPCS is Rapid’s proven frequency converter product, developed to meet the nation’s most critical and demanding applications. Rapid’s magnetic division builds all the isolation power matching transformers to meet project performance and space criteria. A complete TPCS is assembled in a Rapid enclosure built to meet your vessel’s limitations. This in-house capability to engineer, design, manufacture, assemble and test the TPCS lets Rapid take full system responsibility thus insuring all systems meet your specifications.
The TPCS is your assurance of a power conversion system that will provide a simple hook-up anywhere in the world. This means that your yacht and all of its sophisticated equipment will receive the best available power in an uninterrupted manner when you arrive or leave port.
Marine Enclosures
Rapid will custom build any converter in any size enclosure in your choice of marine grade aluminum (standard), 316L stainless steel (optional> or powder coated steel (optional). All standard enclosures are NEMA 12 drip proof and are finished in your choice of high gloss Imron® enamel. Multiple enclosure systems are available where space limitations exist.
Compare These Features For Marine Power Conversion:
- Frequency Converter - The frequency converter is a digitally controlled Insulated Gate
Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) inverter of proven
design. This engineered power system has an
an integral overload capability to meet the
marine duty. Most components are standard
off the shelf items and are readily available
throughout the world. These items are all
standard stock at Rapid.
- Automatic Input Voltage Select - Rapid’s
converters automatically sense the dockside
voltage and produce quality reliable regulated
power for both frequency and voltage
from any marina worldwide. Standard voltage range is 180 V to 520 V. Other voltage
ranges are available.
- Automatic Parallel System - Units can be paralleled for extra capacity, or for separate and multiple dockside power sources.
- Automatic Generator Synchronization - Rapid units will digitally synchronize to and from the onboard generator seamlessly without any interruption of power to your sensitive equipment.
- Low Input Harmonics - Rapid frequency conversion units are designed to minimize the harmonic distortion that is seen by the marina power provider. New installations or refits must consider this feature, as high harmonics may result in the marina having to disconnect your power supply.
- Unbalanced Loads - Unit can withstand 100% unbalanced loading and still maintain output voltage to within ±3%.
- Computer Control - These state of the art converters can be equipped with isolated analog and discrete signals to monitor virtually the entire converter system. This digital control makes remote monitoring easy with a simplified cable connection between converter and remote panel.
